About the studio

A working studio, not a gallery wall.

WoodCreek Studios began with a single commissioned portrait and grew into a practice spanning canvas, wall, and tile. The work is slow on purpose — drawn from life, mixed by hand, and finished only when it feels right. Expertise built on decades of honing her craft, teaching students of all ages and skill levels, and delivering for demanding clients has both sharpened her pencil and softened her brush strokes.

Whether it's a portrait that will hang for generations, a mural that transforms a room, or a mosaic set stone by stone, each project is treated as a collaboration with the person who'll live with it.

Why I cut my own tile

The artist

Jacqueline Schatzle Halliburton

B.A. Art Education and B.A. English Education, with a minor in Psychology and master's work in architecture, painting, sculpture, graphic design, illustration and printmaking through American universities and The Academy of Applied Arts in Architecture and Design, Prague, Czech Republic — and 30+ years of hands-on experience in public art & design, public education, and diocesan educational work with the Catholic Church.

She is an accomplished, published artist, illustrator, sculptor and designer working in a range of mediums for private and corporate projects, both nationally and across the Houston area, as well as in artistic and design management for several Fortune 100 and 500 companies.

Jacqueline is also a well-regarded educator who has led numerous art education classes for public and private high schools, adult education through Leisure Learning, LLC, and many curriculums through her own business, WoodCreek Studios. Her ability to teach traditional and modern art techniques alongside the broader humanities has been demonstrated in many capacities over the years, in both the national and Houston communities.

Engaging and helpful by nature, she brings confidence, patience, and deep experience to guiding both students and accomplished artists toward their own creative hopes and goals. She is equally at home working with students and adults from a wide range of cultures, languages, and backgrounds.
